Horace "Blue" Barnes

Horace “Blue” Barnes, 73, of Brook Avenue, Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Friday, August 23, 2019 at his residence. He was the son of the late Rosa Armstrong Barnes and Ocie Barnes. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Willie L. Barnes. He was a graduate of Suffolk Public Schools, served in the Army, and was the Owner/Proprietor of Barnes Automotive for 20 years and He worked at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 30 years. Horace was a faithful and dedicated member of East End Baptist Church for over 60 years where he served in Men of Praise, the Transportation Ministry, and the Family and Friends Ministry. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Beulah M. Barnes-Wright (Bernard) and Vivian Barnes both of Suffolk; sister-in-law, Dorothy Barnes of Suffolk; aunt, Rosemary Bess (Mason) of Hamden, Conn.; nieces, Tanya R. West (Clarence), Deatrice Johnson (David) both of Suffolk, and Willetha Winborne (Jamer) of Florida; nephews, William Barnes (Vondlear), Kenneth Barnes, Karl Daughtrey(Betty) all of Suffolk; great niece, Taylor West and Caelyn West; great nephews, Clarence S. West, III; a host of relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held noon Friday, August 30, 2019 at East End Baptist Church, 1056 Portsmouth Blvd, Suffolk, VA. Rev.
