Hilton Lewis Young (73) of Suffolk, VA, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Hilton was born, November 1948 in Boiling Springs, NC to the late Charlie Coleman Young and Lillie Mae Ponder Young. He attended school in Boiling Springs, NC. He later joined the United States Marine Corps where he served his country in the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the military, he became a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Most recently, he was an active member of DAV Chapter 5, Suffolk, VA. He served as a Deacon since the 1990s and his passion for the bible led to him to persue and receive his Associate's Degree in Biblical Studies from the W.P. Wiggins Bible Institute in Suffolk, VA. He was a member of Rising St. James Pentecostal Holiness Church (PHC) where he served as Deacon Emeritus and Sunday School Superintendent. Hilton was preceded in death by his mother and father Charlie and Lillie Mae Ponder Young, Pearlie Young (step-mother); brothers: Coleman Young and Charles Young, sisters: Mary Ellen Young, Virginia Louise Ross, Betty Young, and Doris Hunt. He leaves to cherish his warm memories, his wife Patricia Young, daughter La Keisha Keneti (Kenneth) and sons: Hilton T. Young and Corey D. Young (Quatisha), two sisters: Sarah Mask and Sandra Diane Young, two granddaughters: Ja Mara Young and Cortney Young, four grandsons: Ke’Ante Waters (Anaya), Kenneth Keneti, Riley Keneti, and Corey A. Young, one great granddaughter: Reighlan Waters, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A public viewing will be held 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Rising St. James P.H.C. Mr. Young will be interred at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2022 in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
