Deaconess Hester Mae Windsor, daughter of the late Reuben E. Cowper Sr. and Lina S. Urquhart Cowper, was born May 24, 1923 in Southampton County, VA. She departed this life to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 3, 2020. Hester was educated in Hertford County Public School System. After graduating she moved to Suffolk, VA. For many years, she was employed with Haynes and Carter's Furniture stores and later with the Suffolk Public School System where she retired as a Bus Driver. Hester was married to Alonza Windsor and they became parents to one child, Claudine Moultrie. She was a devoted wife and enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading her bible and word puzzles. She was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church, Suffolk,VA where she served as a Deaconess. She later returned home after a period of time. She resided at Accordius Rehabilitation Nursing Home Facility in Gates, NC. Hester was preceded in death by her husband, Alonza Windsor, parents, Reuben E. Cowper and Lina S. Urquhart Cowper, siblings, brothers, Reuben Cooper II, Albert Cooper, Charlie Cooper, Joe H. Cooper and one sister, Hannah C. Hill. She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Claudine Moultrie; brother, Calvin S. Cowper; a nephew she admired, George Cooper (Missouri) and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held noon, Friday, December 11, 2020 at Carver Memorial Cemetery. Bishop Carlton Upton will deliver the message of comfort.
