Hersey Paul Lawrence

On Sunday, March 11, 2018, Hersey Paul Lawrence transitioned peacefully at his residence in Portsmouth, Virginia.  He was a native of Nansemond County, Virginia.He was born February 12, 1932 to the parents of James Thomas Lawrence and Mary Louise Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Pearl Lawrence, his sister Evelyn L. Johnson, brothers, Andrew Lawrence (Dickey) and James Lawrence, Jr. Hersey retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 32 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, fixing cars, driving the Fun Tours bus across the country and spending time with his family and friends. He leaves to cherish and perpetuate his memory, his loving daughter Martha Trotman (Marvin) his son Eric Sears. Seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a special friend (Mildred White) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4901 Deerpath, Road, Suffolk. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norfolk, Virginia. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
