Herman H. Gray, Jr.

Herman Haywood Gray, Jr., 54, of Suffolk, Virginia, born August 15, 1963, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Virginia Beach General Hospital. He was born to the late Clarine Collins Gray and Leon Dildy, Sr. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Valerie Gray, and brother, Maurice Gray. Herman was a graduate of Forest Glen High School. He retired from Smithfield Packing Company after 21 years of faithful and dedicated service. For the past 10 years, he has been employed with Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipbuilding. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Myrtle L. Gray of Suffolk; daughter, Symone Taylor of Portsmouth; four sons, Shawn Hatton of Woodbridge, Adrian Hatton of Chesapeake, Gerard Hatton, and Quenfin Hatton both of Suffolk; goddaughter, Javona Cutler of Wakefield; three sisters, Tereon Johns of Greensboro, NC, Yvonne Gray and Libby Gray both of Suffolk; brother, Leon Dildy, Jr.(Angela) of Suffolk; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, In-laws, cousins, and friends. A celebration of life will be held noon, Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 8300 Crittenden Road. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
