On August 7, 2022, God in his infinite wisdom saw fit to call our loved one, Helen L. Wellons- Goodman home in glory. She was born on March 5, 1937 to the late Mary Young Wellons and Joe Henry Wellons in Suffolk, Virginia and she was preceded in death by her 14 siblings. Helen received her education through the Suffolk School System and later went on to gain employment at Planters Peanut factory, where she retired. She returned to working at Suffolk Public Schools and later to Holland Market, where she was employed until her health began to fail. Helen L. Wellons- Goodman affectionally known as Sister Goodman was a lifelong member of over 60 years at Missouri Baptist Church. She began serving immediately in the church. She served on the Young Adult and Senior Choir. She was a member and an elected treasurer for the Missionary Circle. Sister Goodman was a member and elected treasurer of the Willing Workers Circle, she became the leader of the Sexton Janitorial duties in 1996, a faithful member of bible class and kitchen technician for over 40 years. The fellowship hall of Missouri Baptist church is dedicated and named in her honor. Sister Goodman was a bonded Trustee until her death. Sister Goodman was well respected and loved. She will be missed by many. She leaves to cherish her memories, her two God children, Barry and Leslie Davis. Three Special Nieces, Virginia Warren, Doris Knox, and Kate Nichols. Two special friends, Ms. Helen Pope and Ms. Rosetta Mitchell. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A public viewing will be held 2-6pm, Friday, August 12, 2022 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Church. Pastor Deon Gatling will deliver the message of comfort. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
