Helen Dildy Robertson, age 83, of 2066 Petersen Way, Suffolk, VA, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Sentara Obici Hospital. Born on April 23, 1942, to the late Percy and Nora Dildy of Nansemond County, Helen’s life was marked by love, faith, and devotion. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, James Augusta Robertson, six brothers and one sister—Harvey Langston, Alma Hunter, Leon Dildy, James Dildy, Phillip Dildy, Redell Dildy, and Jefferson Dildy—as well as her cherished granddaughter, Raven Robertson.
Helen Dildy Robertson received her early education at East Suffolk Elementary School, where she laid the foundation for a life of learning and service. Her life was a tapestry of faith, family, and cherished traditions. She found joy in listening to gospel music, letting its uplifting melodies fill her home and heart. Helen delighted in perusing QVC, always on the lookout for something special, and spent many peaceful hours working on word searches and reading her Bible, drawing strength and inspiration from its pages. She was a devoted and cherished member of Palm Tree Baptist Church in Whaleyville, consistently demonstrating unwavering faith and commitment to her church community. Above all, Helen made her family her number one priority, nurturing and supporting each member with unwavering love. She was famous for her sweet potato pies, coconut cakes, and sweet potato jacks—treats that brought loved ones together and created lasting memories. Helen’s warmth, devotion, and culinary talents will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Helen leaves to cherish her memory eight children: Elvis L. Dildy, Sr., Margaret Hicks (Derwin), James T. Dildy, Sr. (April), Crystal R. Robertson, Glenn E. Robertson (Rosetta), Tracey Robertson-Smith (John), Jacqueline Robertson of Suffolk, VA; Roslyn P. Robertson-Rawlings (Christopher) of Norfolk, VA; three sisters, Janice Ralph (Vernon Sr.), Minnie Dildy and Velma Dildy; two brothers, Eugene and Wesley Dildy; one aunt, Evelyn (William) Collins; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Louella Dildy, Louise Dildy, Mary Dildy, Virginia Dildy & Christine Edmond and one brother-in-law, Cleveland Robertson all of Suffolk, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Viewing will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2025, at Palm Tree Baptist Church.
