Grace Norman Boone affectionately known as "Sam" entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 while in her home. She was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Taylor. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Alton Boone, Sr., a brother, James (Fischer) Taylor and sons Eric and James Boone. She was a dedicated and active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist church where she sang with the Inspirational and Mass Choirs. She was a proud recipient of the Virtuous Woman Award in May, 2013. Grace enjoyed serving the Lord with her whole heart. Grace wanted everyone to know that it is important to have a relationship with God. She knew that although life may have had many ups and downs, God never left nor forsook her. Grace loved planting flowers and watching them grow. This nuturing spirit translated to the love she had for family. She was lovinglty known by her grandchildren for her shaky hugs that seemed to last a lifetime. Her favorite saying was "Just Keep Living" She leaves to cherish her memories four daughter, Sheila Cross (Chris) of Gates, NC, Coleete Ruffin (Major) of Suffolk, Donna Renee Colander (Obadiah) of Raleigh, NC, Barbara Simmons (Felix) of Newport News, VA. Three sons, Alton Boone, Jr., Neil Boone, and Anderson Boone (Sandra), all of Suffolk. Nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2019 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 4481 Butler Drive, Suffolk, Virginia 23437. Rev. L. Stephon Johnson will deliver the message of comfort. She will be laid to rest in the C.W. Ash Garden of Carver Memorial Cemetery.
