Gloria Lee Burrus

Gloria Lee Burrus, 70, transitioned on May 3, 2022 at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Gloria was born in Isle of Wight County to the late Israel Charlie Cross and Maggie Baton Cross. For the last few years she resided at 7000 Auburn Street, Norfolk VA. She was a native of Suffolk, VA (Hollywood) for many years, where she worked at Feather-N-Fin. She also served on the Mother's Board at Greater New Hope C.O.G.I.C. as well as an Usher and this past holiday season, she helped raise funds for Salvation Army as a Christmas bell ringer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee Burrus; brothers, Oliver Hill, Henry Hill, Charlie Cross; sister, Rev. Helen Cross. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Vanessa Bazemore (Anthony), Stacy Wilson (Henry), and Andrea Ricks. Fourteen grandchildren Keosha (Greg), Stephen, Kendra, VaKylia, Jasmine, Darlecia, Twionette, Ayanna, Alicia, Yarnita, Lashandis, SaQuan, Terri Lynn, Aundre, twelve great grandchildren and one godson, Alan Daughtrey (Tasha). Three sisters, Barbara Wilson and Rosa White both of Suffolk and Rebecca Cross of Capitol Heights, MD; three brothers, Willie Cross of Cambridge, MD; Israel Cross (Sarah) of Suffolk, John Cross of Capitol Heights, MD; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. A viewing will be held 3-6 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2022 at Balm Church East Campus.
