Gloria Eliza Adams of Alexandria, Virginia peacefully and quietly entered into eternal rest on Saturday May 23, 2020 at The Adler Center in Loudon County, Virginia. She was 93 years of age, born May 21, 1927 in Southampton County, Virginia to the late Israel Scott, Sr. and the late Odell McNeal Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Adams, sons, James M. Adams and Elvin L. Adams, brothers, Clarence Scott, Russel Scott, Israel Scott, Jr., sisters, Lois Robertson, Annie Murry and Theresa Holliman. Gloria lived her early years in Suffolk, Virginia where she and her husband raised 6 children. She was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church where she was an active member of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry and supported other church activities. She was an active member of the community. Gloria’s enthusiasm for life was evident through her capacity for hard work and play. She studied in the GED program while working full time and graduated high school the same year as her youngest daughter. She was a cosmetologist and a seamstress. She worked part-time at Planters Peanut Company in the Nut and Chocolate Division. She retired from the London Town Industries in Portsmouth, VA after 22 years. Health issues brought her closer to her children in the Washington, DC area. She made Alexandria home and soon joined the Alfred Street Baptist Church, met new friends and was active with her discipleship group. She was an active member at the Gum Springs Senior Center where she taught a craft class and participated in day trips. Later she joined the Alexandria Adult Day Program to remain active and learn new skills. Gloria was a resident at ManorCare of Fair Oaks skilled nursing facility in Fairfax, VA. She loved to play bingo, a special game with friends and take part in other social activities offered by the facility. She spent her last days at The Adler Center in Loudon County, Virginia. She leaves to cherish in loving memory four daughters; Ruby M. Warren of Fayetteville, NC, Betty A. Littlejohn (Rufus) of Alexandria, Marjorie L. Pratt, Upper Marlboro, MD and Aleta V. Adams-Allen (Guy) of Woodbridge, VA. She is survived by one brother, Charles D. Scott, Sr. (Rosa) of Portsmouth, VA, one sister, Shirley Boone of Suffolk, VA and sister-in-law, Clementine Scott of Bridgeport, CT , grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other loving relatives and friends. Rest in Peace... Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend. You will be greatly missed by all. There will be a viewing on Sunday, May 31, 2020, 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the funeral home. A private service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 12 noon in the Crocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel (limited seating and mask are required). Viewing one hour prior at 11:00 am.
