Glenn Christopher Blizzard, Sr. known to many as “BG” donned his wings on September 27, 2024. Predeceased by parents Mongolden Blizzard and Lillie Artis Blizzard, wife Rose Swann Blizzard, and two children Glenn C. Blizzard, Jr and Lillian (Lynn) Copeland.
Survived by two daughter Gwendolyn (Rollon), and Beverly Blizzard-Boothe of North Carolina; and two sons Abbott of Suffolk and Charles of Maryland and an adopted son Tyrone Upshur of Norfolk, three nephews, 10 grandchildren and great-great grands.
Glenn was born on July 1, 1925, in Hertfort County North Carolina. His family moved to Suffolk Virginia where he attended East Suffolk School afterwards continuing his education at St Paul College. Glenn served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 during WWII; after serving his time he met the woman that caught his eye Rose, they married in 1950. From that union they had 6 children.
Glenn was employed with Norfolk Navy Aviation Shipyard for 26 years until retirement. Glenn enjoyed working with his hands. He started working on T.V’s - building his mom her first black and white TV, building computers for his children, repairing stereo’s or anything that was electronic.
His memories will always be close to us ALL as BG, TV MAN, DAD, GRANDDAD, FATHER-IN-LAW, and UNCLE.
A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Healing Chapel Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
