Gladys Winnegan Pittman

April 8, 1930 — November 23, 2020

Gladys W. Pittman, 90, of Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Monday, November 23, 2020 at Autumn Care of Suffolk. She was born in Isle of Wight County, VA and the daughter of the late Calvin and Blanche Winnegan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, David Eugene Pittman, Sr.; son, Stanley Darnell Pittman; siblings, Alice Gradison, Violet Winnegan, Iris Thompson, Nathan Winnegan and Shepherd Newby. Gladys completed her formal education in Isle of Wight County Public Schools, Isle of Wight County, VA. She retired from Smithfield Packing after 32 years of committed service. Gladys obtained her early Christian experience at Hill Street Baptist, Smithfield and later transferred to her membership Main Street Baptist Church in Smithfield, VA. Upon relocating and marriage, she moved her membership to Diamond Grove Baptist Church located in the "Sandy Bottoms" community of Suffolk, VA where she worshipped with her husband, David, until her health began to decline. She is survived by her children, David Eugene Pittman, Jr., (Gwen), Accokeek, MD; Rita Howard, Syracuse, NY; grandchildren, Dominique Pittman, David Eugene Pittman, III, Accokeek, MD and Jamille Howard, Boca Raton, FL; great grandchild, London Pittman, Accokeek, MD; daughter-in-law, Vicki C. Wiggins-Pittman, Suffolk, VA; sister-in-law, Medicia Pittman Wright, Suffolk, VA and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, relatives and close friends. A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
