Gladys Jenkins

Gladys E. Jenkins, 84, of Centerbrooke Lane, Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Monday, October 15, 2018, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Catherine E. Saunders and Booker T. Jenkins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Max Jenkins, Bernard Jenkins, and Booker Jenkins. She was a graduate of Hayden High School in Franklin, Virginia. She attended Norfolk State University and graduated from Virginia State University. She was employed with the Department of the Army for 38 years before retiring. During her tenure with the United States Army, many accolades were received including, successfully completing the Logistics Management College, the AC-Delco Training Program, and Recognition for her support of Operation Desert Storm. She was a member of St. John Christian Church, Tiger Riders M/C, AARP of Suffolk, and Delta Sorority. She leaves to cherish her memories her sisters, Ellen Jenkins and Sandra Talley; four brothers, Ronald Jenkins, Terry Jenkins, Jessie Grant, and Larry Grant; a special caregiver with much love and compassion, Brenda Jenkins-Hall; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. A visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2018, at Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Balm Church-East Campus, 523 E. Washington Street, Suffolk. She will be laid to rest in Mt.
