It pleased Almighty God to call from this journey of life George Jefferson “Jet” Taylor, 75, of 357 Bruce Street, Franklin, Virginia, on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

George “Jet” Taylor was born in Holland, Virginia (now Suffolk) to Roxie Anna Taylor Copeland on October 2, 1950. He was the oldest of two children.

Jet was educated in the Suffolk City School System and graduated with the Class of 1971 from Forest Glen High School. After graduation, he moved to Washington, D.C. with his cousin, William Darnell Boone, and remained there until 1994.

During his working years, Jet was employed at Lipton Tea Company in Suffolk, Virginia. He also performed various odd jobs for friends and neighbors throughout the community. Jet was well-known, well-loved, and always willing to lend a hand.

Jet was a faithful member of Holland Mission Church, where he served as an usher and worked in the kitchen whenever needed. His quiet presence, helping hands, and warm heart will be deeply missed.

Jet is preceded in death by his mother Roxie Anna Taylor Copeland; stepfather Alfred W. Copeland, Sr.; Catherine Douglas Copeland; brother-in-law Melvin Lewis, who never saw Jet as “nothing but family and did nothing wrong”; and a brother, Alfred Copeland Jr. (Tommy T.) ; Jet was raised by his cousin/aunt Sarah Boone, alongside her sons William Darnell, Earl Tyrone, Jerome, and Jimmy Lee Boone, in the family home in Holland, Virginia.

Jet is survived by his loving sisters Cherry Theresa Lewis (Chesterfield, VA), Jovannie Copeland (Suffolk, VA), Catherine Jones(William) (Suffolk, VA), Ella Douglas (Suffolk, VA), Mary Harden (Tracey) (Suffolk, VA), Deloise Wright (Raleigh, NC); Two Brothers: Matthew Copeland (Suffolk, VA) and Herman Copeland (Suffolk, VA); and five nieces: Nakisha White (Chesapeake, VA), Loleta Lewis and Marlvetta Lewis (Chesterfield, VA), Kimberly Lewis (Suffolk, VA), and Roxanne Lewis (Austin, TX).

A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also share in the loss but rejoice in the memory of his life.

Viewing will be held 2-6 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2025. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m Friday, November 28, 2025 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel.Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
