George Eley, Sr.

George Eley, Sr., 92, of Seacock Chapel Road, Zuni, Virginia transitioned Monday, October 26, 2020 at his residence. He was the son of the late George Clinton Eley and Mable Hardy Eley. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Blowe Eley, one sister, India E. Warren, brothers, Clifton Eley, John R. Eley, Ivan Eley, Grandchildren Delante Eley, Yazmin Eley, Fannie Elsie Eley, Jordan Myrick, one son-in-law Fernando Page, in-laws Jasper Blow, Lorraine Roundtree, James L. Robert, Bernice Elam, brother-in-law, Rev. L. Warren; Wilbert Wilson and Andrew Littlejohn. George worked various jobs, Newport News Shipyard, Norfolk Western Railroad, Army Corp of Engineers; he retired in 1995 after 32 years of faithful and dedicated service with the US Coast Guard. He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters, Joyce Page of Portsmouth, VA Cynthia Warren (Steve) of Sedley, VA, Sharon Joyner (Joseph) of Courtland, VA and Rev. Brenda Clark of Zuni, VA three sons, George Jr. (Evangeline) Eley of Zuni, VA, Reginald (Stephanie) Eley of Ivor, VA and Pastor Michael (Tonya) Eley of Raleigh, NC; siblings, Nell Robert of Zuni, VA, Marlvin (Ira) Stringfield, Norfolk, VA, Phyllis (Jerry) Stokes, Windsor, VA, Alvernon (Wilhelmina), Petersburg, VA, in-laws Betty Jean, Roberta Wilson, Irene Littlejohn, Rev. James T. Elam, Sr.; 27 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a incredible group of fun nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held 2-7 p.m. Friday, October 30. 2020 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held noon, Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 9000 Firetower Road, Windsor, VA. Pastor Michael E. Eley, Sr will be delivering the Eulogy. This will be a graveside service, masked will be required in coordination with all CDC, State and Local health guidelines. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
