In Loving Memory of George “Jay” Parker Douglas III

December 29, 1971 – May 23, 2026

With deep love and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of George “Jay” Parker Douglas III, who transitioned from this life on May 23, 2026, at the age of 54.

Jay was born on December 29, 1971, in the Bronx, New York, to Bridget Douglas-Burton and George Parker Douglas II.

Jay was raised in the Baptist church, where faith, love, and family became a strong foundation throughout his life. He was well known and respected in his community for his generous spirit and compassionate heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer support, or simply show up when someone needed him most. His kindness touched many lives, and he was deeply loved by all who knew him.

For more than 20 years, Jay worked as a Maintenance Technician with Advex. He was hardworking, dependable, and took pride in everything he did. He was respected by coworkers and admired for his dedication, skill, and the steady way he carried himself through life.

To know Jay was to know laughter. He was extremely funny, easygoing, hardworking, loving, and compassionate. He had a gift for making people laugh and bringing joy into every room he entered. Whether telling stories, joking with family, or enjoying quiet moments, Jay made every moment special. He loved firing up the grill for a barbecue, working on his many cars, and relaxing with family and friends.

Above all, Jay loved his family deeply. His greatest joy was being surrounded by the people he loved and creating lasting memories with them.

Jay leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Melinda “Cookie” Douglas; his children, Jaquan, Rachele, and Je’Taunne; his stepchildren, Ashley and Keshawn; his grandchildren, Jaquan (“Lil June”) and Ari; his mother, Bridget Douglas-Burton; his stepfather, Sidney Burton; his sisters, Tenisha Gonzalez and Shantele “Nikki” Byron; his aunt, Lisa Glover; his goddaughter, Amaya; his niece, Imani; his nephews, Markes and Justin; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Walter Knight; his brothers-in-law, June Gonzalez and Milton Gilchrist; his sisters-in-law, Avis Joyner and Debbie Williams; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends whose lives were blessed by knowing and loving him.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, George Parker Douglas II.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we are grateful for the love Jay gave so freely, the laughter he shared so often, and the lasting memories he created with everyone around him. His humor, generosity, kindness, and deep love for family will continue to live on in all who knew him.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever missed.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2026 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. The family has entrusted Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. with professional services rendered with dignity, compassion and care.
