George Milton Blount

February 26, 1953 — February 12, 2022

George Milton Blount, 68, of Chesapeake, VA passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 in his home surrounded by loved ones. George was born on February 26, 1953 to the late George Washington Blount and the late Bessie Council Blount in Suffolk, VA. George graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1971. He worked for General Electric for many years before moving on to Kerneos, Inc. where he worked for 26 years before retiring in 2018. There wasn’t a challenge around that was too big for George. He was very creative and took great pride in figuring things out for himself. Whether it was pitching a tent as a Boy Scout Troop Master, dedicating long hours each week – no matter the weather – to the maintenance of his lawn, tinkering with smart home devices like Ring and Amazon Alexa in his home or in his children’s homes, or simply recreating a restaurant meal at home, George took pride in all that he did. He enjoyed walking…and walking…and walking. Those who knew this about him would often marvel at the distances he would walk. He was a dedicated family man who spent his time post-retirement enjoying late night tv binges with his beloved wife or taking long road trips to Tennessee, Georgia, California, wherever to visit with his family. George fell in love with and married Ethel D. Archer Blount 40 years ago. Together they have nine children and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents George and Bessie Blount and sister Sarita Towns (James). He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Ethel Blount; children Angela Perry, Katina Ralph (Lamont), Shaketta Jordan, Alkabulan Kudjo (“George Jr.”) Jordan (Indee), Christopher-Jesus Blount (Kim), Brian Blount (Shardé), Tammi Coles (Andreas), Valerie Williamson (Mario), and Lavon Coles, Jr. (Erica); brother Richard Council (Verna Marie, deceased); sisters Vanessa Sampson, Tanya Gregory (Sherman), and Kim Mason (Ron); sisters-in-law Viola Marie Archer Leslie (Tim, deceased) and Irene Goodman (deceased)(Glendon); brothers-in-law David Archer (Ida Marie) and George “BoPete” Archer (Maggie); a host of extended family and friends. A public viewing will be held 12 Noon - 7:00pm, Friday, February 18, 2022 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. A celebration of life will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Tabernacle Baptist Outreach Center. Minister Alkabulan K. Jordan will deliver the message of comfort.
