General Grant Chapman, aka GeeGee, a devoted family man known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and kind heart, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 27th, 2026.

 General worked hard throughout his life and took great pride in providing for his family. He worked for many years at Heilig-Meyers Furniture formally Thornton’s Furniture, where he was known for his reliability, dedication, and friendly demeanor. He later worked as a truck driver, a role that reflected his independence, perseverance, and commitment to honest work. General believed in doing things the right way and earning respect through consistency and integrity.

Above all, General was a man who loved his family deeply. He was a steady presence, a source of wisdom, and someone others could always depend on. His life was rooted in love, loyalty, and quiet strength, and he touched many lives simply by being himself. 

General Grant Chapman is survived by his children, Lamont Langley and Lynnette Lowe; his grandsons, Dominique Morgan and Anthony Langley; his great-granddaughter, Nhyla Morgan; his sisters, Lessie Bynum and Margaret Jones; his sister-in-law, Francais Chapman; his nieces, Sabrina Cooks and Lytress Chapman; nephew James Chapman III: his friend and pastor, Tim Richardson; his friend, Paulette Butler; and extended family and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Luella Chapman; his life partner, Ivy Langley; his son, Tyrone Langley; and his brothers, James Chapman Jr. and Clarence White Jr. In accordance with his wishes, General Grant Chapman will be cremated, and no services will be held. General Grant Chapman will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his dedication to family, his honest work, and the lasting legacy of love he leaves behind.
