Frank Skeeter

March 18, 1927 — January 21, 2019

Frank Skeeter entered into eternal rest and peace on January 21, 2019. He was a native of Nansemond County and son of the late Blackwell and Josie Boone Skeeter. he was married to the love of his life the late Alice Elnora Steverson Skeeter for 54 years. He was also preceded in death by two brothers Fredrick Skeeter and Wallace Skeeter; four sisters, Flossie Artis, Mary Simmons, Josephine Skeeter and Irene Lundy; one daughter, Jean Council and one grandson Maurice Council. He was a retired painter from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, following retirement he was a proud farmer. Frank was a member of Balm of Gilead Missionary Baptist Church serving faithfully as an usher until the passing of his beloved Alice. He loved riding and attending church until his health declined. He leaves to cherish fond memories: three daughters and their spouses, Linda Harris and Bishop Russell Harris, Gloria Dotson and William Dotson III, of Richmond, Virginia, and Velma Bryant and Rev. Dr. Anthony Bryant of Suffolk, Virginia; Charles Council of Richmond, Virginia; two sisters Elnora Tranuam and Janet Riddick of New York City; one sister-in-law Rosa Smith and two brothers-in-law, Lewis Steverson (Mary) and John Henry Steverson of Suffolk, Virginia; six grandchildren, Syretta Harris, Jerree Harris, Jerron Council (Gina), and Lashaunda Dotson of Richmond, Virginia Monique Smith of College Park, Maryland, Stacey Smith of Suffolk, Virginia; one great grandson, Tajee Smith of Laurel Maryland; a special godchild, Elaine Riddick Freeman, and numerous nieces,nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at St. Paul Church, 619 Spruce Street, Suffolk, Virginia 23434 He will be laid to rest in Balm of Gilead Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
