Florine Skeeter

Florine Skeeter of Carolina Road, Suffolk, transitioned on early Wednesday morning, April 13, 2022 at her residence. She was born on June 16, 1928 in Nansemond County to the late Linwood and Cfroney Milteer Sawyer. Florine attended the Nansemond County Public Schools. At an early age, she joined Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Mt. Ararat Christian Church where she served as the Church Clerk and Janitor for many years until her health began to decline. She also served as a member of the Deaconess Ministry, Senior Choir and Women’s Fellowship Ministry. She was also a member of the Mt. Ararat Missionary Lodge No. 1 where she was the former Secretary. Florine was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Skeeter, son-in-law, Russell Copeland, grandson-in-law, Stephen Myrick, three sisters, Pauline Brown, Thelma Ashe and Evelena Britt; four brothers, Louis, Horace, Lemuel and Henry Sawyer. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Cathy S. Copeland; one granddaughter, Catina Myrick; one great-granddaughter, Shanice Myrick of Suffolk; four sisters, Laura Ann White of Ossining, NY; Mary Lee Twine of North Las Vegas, Nevada; Janett Hopson, Geraldine Fulgham (James) of Suffolk; one brother, James Sawyer of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Viewing will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022 4pm - 7pm at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 E. Washington Street, Suffolk, VA. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Ararat Christian Church, 1860 Airport Road, Suffolk, VA. Pastor Eric L. Thornton will deliver the message of comfort.
