On Friday, June 30, 2023 our dearly beloved Florence Florida Bell Lane, 92 departed this life at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Virginia. Florence was born November 25, 1930 to the late Jeff and Florence Ann Turner Bell in Sedley, Virginia. She was married to the love of her life the late Bertel (BT) Lane on December 23, 1950. She was a faithful member of the New Branch Baptist Church for many years. She served on the Deaconess Board, Usher Board, Missionary Committee and Kitchen Committee. She loved the Lord, her preacher and his family and the members of her church. If you knew anything about Florence you knew that she loved and adored her family. She loved cooking, fishing and gardening. She showed that love in many ways but especially by cooking and being hospitable. She enjoyed planting her garden and picking, cooking and sharing what she grew. Any event in the family that she knew about she was going to be there in support. She was very passionate about fishing. Her step-mom, Maggie taught her to fish at a very early age and she fell in love with the sport. She could catch a fish when no one else could. It’s no wonder why she was attracted to BT because he also loved to fish. It was one of their favorite past-times. She will be so missed. She supported her grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as if they all were her own. She loved traveling to events that involved her family: reunions, graduations, birthday parties, weddings and anniversaries. You name it and she was ready to go. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Willie Bell (Butch) of Courtland, Virginia. A daughter, Marsha Robinson of Ivor, Virginia.
