Bobby’s Life Story
"I'm at peace, my storm has passed"
Felix Davis, Jr., “Bobby,” as he was affectionately known, was born on October 29, 1940 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia and was the second child of the late Corean and Felix Davis, Sr. Felix departed this life on Sunday, June 21, 2026 in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Felix graduated from Sussex County Training School and then went on to complete a four-year apprenticeship at the Newport News Shipbuilding/Northrop Grumman Apprentice School in Electrical/Electronic Technology. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree of Electrical Engineering from Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Felix’s career included employment with The Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company (now a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries) in Newport News, Virginia and E.I. Dupont de Nemours, Inc., that included assignments in Old Hickory, Tennessee, Savannah, Georgia, Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Buffalo, New York. He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, a member of Tau Beta Pi - the Engineering Honor Society, and a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. In 2004, Felix retired as Operations Manager from E.I. Dupont de Nemours, Inc. (Spruance Site) in Chesterfield, Virginia.
Serving his community was extremely important to Felix. As a child, he was baptized at Gilfield Baptist Church in Ivor, Virginia, and later became an active church member and served as a member of the Board of Trustees. In addition, Felix was appointed by former Governor Timothy Kaine to the Virginia State University Board of Visitors on January 23, 2008. He also served as Chairman of the Board for the North Richmond YMCA and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Metro-Richmond YMCA.
Felix was preceded in death by his parents, Corean and Felix Davis, Sr; his sisters, Deloris Davis Hooker and Sylvia Jean Davis; and his nephew, Torey Brown.
Felix leaves behind many loving family members to cherish his memory; his wife of 56 years, Ernestine Davis; a daughter, Melissa Davis (Dwayne Taylor); four sisters, Mae Davis Claud, Yvonne Davis, Mary C. Davis, and Tonya Davis; one brother, James Davis (Sheila); one sister-in-law, Carole Dennard Johnson (Alvin); two brothers-in-laws, Thomas Hooker and Harold Dennard, Sr. (Gloria); nephews: Cornelius Claud (Janet), Terence Claud, Kelvin Claud, Carlos Hooker (Robin), and Harold Dennard II; nieces, Kimberli Hooker Brown, Renee Hooker Drumgo (Tari), and Nakeisha Dennard Payne (Peter); and numerous cousins, other relatives, extended family and friends.
A public viewing will be held 10am-12pm, Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Gilfield Baptist Church, Ivor, VA, with a celebration of life immediately following at 12pm. Mr. Davis will be interred in the church cemetery. The family has entrusted Crocker Funeral Home with services rendered with dignity, compassion, and care.
