Evelyn Lee Hill

Evelyn Lee Hill, 84, passed away peacefully at Riverside Hospital on Thursday, February 27, 2020. She was born on June 27, 1935 to Viola Cowling and James Columbus Cowling. She attended East Suffolk High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed going to the center where she was involved in different activities there, she loved dancing and enjoyed life. She always had a smile for you. She attended Diamond Grove Baptist Church until she moved to Newport News, VA. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Viola and James Cowling; four siblings, William Cowling, James Cowling, Mary Cowling and Celestine Cowling White. She leaves to cherish her memories two children, Verna Cowling of Newport News and Curtis Cowling of Suffolk; two sisters, Goldie Mae Cowling and Tony Council both of Suffolk; two brothers, Andrea Cowling and James Cowling, Jr; five grandchildren, Katrina Hill, Alfonsa Cowling, Dennis Cowling, Curtis Hall and Latisha Hall; 10 great grandchildren; she will fondly be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends. A celebration of life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2020 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home.
