Evelyn Stallings Jordan Jones was born on March 10, 1928, in Trotsville, North Carolina (now known as Hobbsville).  She was the daughter of the late Henry Alexander Stallings and the late Charlottie Twine.   Evelyn was the second to the youngest of ten siblings all who preceded her in death:  Victoria Jordan, Hodges Stallings,  Loden Stallings, Will Stallings, Annie Arline, Virgilia Parker, Lydia Doris Jordan, Herman Stallings, and Sadie Parks.  Evelyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie David Jordan and from this union they had two sons, Rev. Dr. Henry L. Jordan and the late Johnny David Jordan.  Later, Evelyn remarried Charlie Lee Jones and from this union, they had a daughter, Phyllis L. She joined the family church, Walton’s Grove AME Zion Church, in Hobbsville, North Carolina.   Evelyn also loved her family and knew no stranger.  She was loved and affectionally called sister, mama, grandma, friend, and a name known to all, Aunt El.  Sister Evelyn was a prayer warrior and was very active in any church where she attended and worshiped.  Her favorite bible scripture was Psalms 23,  she faithfully attended church wherever she lived and held memberships at Grace Baptist Church in Waterbury, Connecticut; when she moved back to North Carolina she  attended Walton’s Grove, and had in later years joined New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church to be with her family when she was no longer able to drive herself to Walton’s Grove.  During her active years of church attendance, she was a Deaconess, served on the Busy Bee’s Auxiliary, Pastor’s Aide, Missionary Committee, Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board, Kitchen Committee and all-around helper within the church wherever she was needed.   Evelyn’s ministry did not end at the church, she was a dedicated wife and mother.  She raised her children within the church and taught them that all things were made possible through Jesus Christ.  Evelyn was also active within the Girl Scouts and other community organizations that improved the quality of life for persons with handicaps and disabilities. Evelyn was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.  Evelyn leaves to cherish her memories her son, Rev. Dr. Henry L.
