Our beloved Ethel Mae Shew, 96 entered into eternal rest at 9:10p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024 at her home.
Ethel was born on February 11, 1928 to the late Paul and Ethel Blount.
Ethel was educated at the I.C. Norcom High School where she graduated.
Ethel retired from New York Department of Corrections and Virginia Department of Corrections.
Ethel gave her life to Christ at a early age. She attended Fourth Baptist Church Portsmouth, VA and later joined Canaan Baptist Church. Where she was a member of the Ushers Ministry, Mother's Ministry, Women's Ministry and Pastor's Aid.
Ethel was predeceased by her father and mother, her brother Paul Blount, Jr., son Freddie Anderson, Jr.
Ethel leaves to mourn her; her son Leroy Davis(Betty), four granddaughters; Albethia, Cynthia(Anthony), Keyshia, Kennya; one grandson, Leroy Davis, Jr,; eighteen great grands and eight great-great grands. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2024 at Canaan Baptist Church, 2064 Nansemond Parkway. She will be laid to rest in the church Cemetery.
