Ethel Eley

April 17, 1931 — May 20, 2018

Ethel Mae Eley, 87, of Proctors Bridge Road, Ivor transitioned Sunday, May 20, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Willie Mae Crocker Patterson and Walter Roberts. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Ruby Eley. She attended Hayden High School in Franklin, VA and also Kee Business College. She retired from General Electric in 1991 after 23 years of faithful and dedicated work. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served in various roles, a member of the  Usher Board, sang in the Senior and Mass choirs, member of the Missionary Circle, participated in the Sunday School Union, as well as a Sunday School Teacher and President of the GA Girls (Girls in Action). She was also a member of Good Samaritan Lodge where she served as Secretary. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Alphonsa Eley of Ivor; daughter, Theresa Crocker (Robert) of Courtland; son, Walter Crocker, Jr.,(Shelia) of Windsor; two sisters, Irene Diggs of Ivor and Alice Blowe of Franklin, VA; five grandchildren, Ali, Minister Iben and Janell Crocker, Marquis, LaMarcus and Kaleb; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a beloved great niece whom she would always call her "Little Girl", Nikki Coffield and special friends of many years, Barbara Greene, Irene Greene, Florence Nichols, and Beatrice Chapman; a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Ebenezer Baptist Church 10686 Ivor Road. Rev. Leslie Holloway will deliver the message of comfort. She will be laid to rest in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
