Eric "Baby Smalls" Cecil Harris

June 12, 1952 — January 16, 2020

Eric Cecil Harris A.K.A "Baby Smalls" was the second child born to Rufus A. Harris, Sr. and Sherley Helen Harris on June 12, 1952 in Holland Virginia (now Suffolk). Eric felt the need for a Savior; he joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Suffolk, VA at an early age and resided in the Suffolk, VA area until his death. Eric attended Southwestern High School and later attended Forest Glen High School. He entered the  U.S. Army and served for 3 years, after service he was employed with the Naval Shipyard Base-Norfolk, VA. Eric and Carolyn Artis-Harris were married for 39 years until his untimely death January 16, 2020. Eric was very devoted to his wife, family and friends. He could be found lending a helpful hand to almost everyone he knew and even those that he did not know during their time of need. He loved to entertain aside from other events. For 16 years he host the Harris Family breakfast for family, friends, and community. Eric enjoyed people. He was a great organizer. Eric leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Carolyn Artis Harris; two brothers, Rufus Harris, Jr. (Queen) of Richmond, VA and Winston Harris (Washington D.C. area); two devoted sisters, Eleanor Harris of Suffolk and Julia Harris of Richmond; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Barley of Petersburg and Lavern Artis of Courtland; three brothers-inl-law, Henry Artis, Jr. (Gwendolyn) of Wakefild, VA, Melvin Artis of Kenbridge, VA, and Dennis Artis (Nakiela) of Capron, VA; four nieces, Shunita Harris, Sherdal Lewis both of Suffolk and Yetta Harris of Richmond, VA, and Arica Carruth of Suffolk; one great niece, Grace; six great nephews, TyShaun (Godson), Bryon, Zyon, Elmarion, Jaceyon, and Justin; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives,and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 6100 Holy Neck Road, Suffolk. Rev. Dr. William L. Lang will officiate and Rev. Dr. J.J. Ferguson will deliver the message of comfort. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
