Elnora Ricks

On Monday, December 27, 2021, Elnora Whitehead Ricks, a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, was peacefully called home by the angels of the Lord Jesus Christ. She was born October 5, 1937 in Southampton County to the late Sidney Whitehead and Sue Rainey. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty plus years, Johnnie Ricks, Jr. and her daughter Yvette M. Ricks. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Gloria Ricks, Virginia Beach, VA., Sue James(Daniel), Suffolk, VA, five sons, Joe Ricks, Leonard Ricks, Johnnie Ricks, III(Pee-Wee), all of Suffolk; Ivan Ricks, Chesapeake, VA, Bruce Ricks, Charlottesville, VA. One brother, Joe Whitehead at Accordius Health Nursing Home, Courtland, VA. Four sister-in-laws, Elsie Bea Gary of Capron, VA, Florence Freeman of Bridgeport Connecticut, Gloria Evans of Capron, VA, and Margaret Ricks of Richmond, VA. Two brother-in-laws, Williams (Buck) Ricks of Portsmouth, VA, and Lorenzo Ricks of Capron, VA. Thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Special friends, Nana Ruth Walker and Sharon Eaton, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who truly love her, especially her granddaughter, Catrise Ricks, and grandson, Terrill Ricks. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery, 16422 Cabin Pond Lane, Boykins, VA 23827. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
