Ella Mae Lynch, of 214 South Lloyd Street, Suffolk, Virginia, peacefully entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at her home. She was born to the late James and Sarah Council. Ella was preceded in death by her five brothers; Charles Lee Council, James Brown, Sr., Clifton Brown, James Council, Jr. and William Council.
Ella was educated in the Suffolk Public School System; having graduated from East Suffolk High School Class of 1964. Ella was employed with Avon Products, Inc. for 24 years as a Buyer/Export Agent before retiring in 1992 and leaving New York. Ella returned to Suffolk, Virginia and was employed with Walmart Supercenter as a Customer Service Specialist where she retired after 9 years.
Ella was a devout Christian who enjoyed serving and praising the Lord. Ella served on the Deaconess Board at First Baptist Hosier Road for many years, then became a devoted member and Sunday School Teacher of Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Ella leaves to cherish her precious memories, two sisters, Ms. Margaret Oropeza of Manhattan, NY and Mrs. Marion Deloris Sykes (Timothy) of Suffolk, VA; two brothers, Phillip Council (Elizabeth) of Suffolk, VA and Ronald Council (Melissa) of Suffolk, VA; three best friends, Ms. Sarah Brown of Suffolk, VA, Ms. Wanda Futrell of Suffolk, VA, and Mrs. E. Mae Hall of Suffolk, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
His presence is here, I am not alone, Jesus is here. Thank you Jesus.
A viewing will be held 11:30am - 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, with a celebration of life immediately following at 1:00pm. Rev. Dr. Ernest J. Simmons, Jr. will deliver the message of comfort. Ms. Ella Mae Lynch will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
