Edward McCoy Boone, Sr.

Edward McCoy Boone, Sr. was called home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2023. He was born on April 11, 1949 to the late Herbert Boone, Jr. and Mary Jane Boone. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janie Taylor and brother, Linwood Boone. He attended John F. Kennedy High School. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Portsmouth, VA. Edward was a member of East End Baptist Church. His favorite football team was Washington Commanders. He enjoyed manicuring lawns and was skilled in woodworking. Edward leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Cynthia G. Boone; sons, Edward M. Boone, Jr. (Monica) of Chesapeake, VA. and Keith Boone (Brigette) of South Carolina; daughters, Stephanie Boone Gunter, of Portsmouth, VA, Kim Boone, of Suffolk, VA, Alyssa Jones, of Alexandria, VA., and Shannon Stocks (Michael) of Portsmouth, VA; sisters, Angelia Stagg (Eley) of Chesapeake, VA., and Tammy Little (Tim) of Suffolk, VA; brothers, Herbert L. Boone III (Erma) of Suffolk, VA, Bobby Boone (Rosemary) of Smithfield, VA, Cornell Boone (Crystal) of Suffolk, VA and Leland Boone, of Norfolk, VA; aunts, Pearl Butts (Calvin) of Fayetteville, NC, Vivian Simkins of Suffolk, VA and Mariah Wright of Portsmouth, VA; sister-in-law, Carolyn Wright of Suffolk, VA; brothers-in-law, Deacon Timothy Wright (Sara) of Suffolk, VA, Deacon Fred Wright of Corapeake, NC and Reginald D. Wright, Sr. (Lisa) of Smithfield, VA. He leaves to cherish fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A viewing will be held 1-5 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2023 at East End Baptist Church.
