Edward J. Hopson

You wonder why I didn't say goodbye. My ship came in the morning. It was a joy to see. The Captain was Jesus and he softly called me Friday morning, July 15, 2022. Edward Junious Hopson answered the call, took the Master's hand, nestled in His arms...my rest is complete! Edward was the beloved son of Lester Vernon Hopson, Sr. and Emily Brown. He accepted Christ at an early age and following years of traveling; he made his home in Hampton, Virginia and renewed his membership at the Family Home Church, the Gethsemane Baptist Church, 1656 Copeland Road, Suffolk, Virginia. Edward was a thoughtful and caring person to family and friends. He carefully mapped his life, just short of 92 years by "two months", September 8th. He was employed by SPIVEY RENTALS, Hampton, Virginia...with more than Fifty (50) years of Outstanding service. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Thelma Smith Artis, and during the marriage, they shared one daughter the late Barbara Hopson Wilkins and from her previous marriage, John Thomas Artis, Berth Lee Kornegay, Corliss Singletary, Carolyn Moore and Cleo Boykins and their daughter, . The family union also included twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildrena dn five great-great grandchildren. Edward leaves to cherish his memory a very special, devoted friend of more than fifty years, Dora Goins, two devoted daughters; Zaneta Goins and Passion Collins (William); two granddaughters, Odyssey and Fantasia and one Godson, Travontte.
