Edna V. Bivins

Edva V. Bivins, one of God's precious angels, slipped away quietly and entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 24, 2025. She was born on May 26, 1928 in Nansemond County, Virginia to the late Ernest and Martha Ricks.

Edna was a faithful and dedicated employee of Planters Peanut Company, where she retired after 30 years of loyal service. 

Religion and Christianity were deeply important to Edna, as she excersized her faith and devotion as a member of Covenant Community Church in Suffolk, Virginia. Edna was always giving praises and thanks to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Having the spirit of Christ dwelling within her and possessing a kind heart, Edna would always help anyone in need.

Caring for her family was the epitome of Edna's existence. She could always be found in the kitchen, cultivating her passion, by cooking up delicious meals for her family to enjoy. The Christmas season was essentially her favorite time of the year, where she loved to make all of her favorite recipes and watch her family enjoy the tasty meals she prepared.

Edna was married to her loving husband, Charlie, who preceded her in death. They spent many precious years together, building and sharing a life together founded on love, peace, and happiness. 

Edna leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Marion F. Williams (Les); two sisters, Marion A. Briggs and Frances A. Pittman, both of Suffolk, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. 

A public viewing will be held 2-7pm, Wednesday, January 29, 2025 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11am, Thursday, January 30, 2025, within the Mausoleum Chapel at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
