Eddie Roosevelt Pope was born in South Hampton County, VA to the late Fannie Mae Pope, and Richard Edward Pope. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sylvia Pope and Virginia Pope. He retired from Gwaltney of Smithfield after 30 years of service. He was gifted, and skillful in repairing vehicles. His family and friends knew he was definitely the man for the job. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving, and faithful wife of 36 years, Gwendolyn Pope; his sons, Allen Turner, Sedley, VA, Johnathan Pope, Suffolk, VA: three brothers, Richard Pope, Newsoms, VA, Raymond (Beverly) Pope, Newsoms, VA, Jessie Lee (Jeanette) Pope: four sisters: Bettie Ann Holloman, Emporia, VA, Lestine (Reginald) Wilkerson, Newsoms, VA, Queen (Nathaniel) Goodwyn, Capron, VA and Alberta (Donald) Wyche, Franklin, VA, good friend, James Godwin, and a host of other relatives and friends. A public viewing will be held on 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2020 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. October 1,2020 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Suffolk. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
