Earnest Edwards, III

Earnest (Baldy) Edwards, III, 61, departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on September 19, 2023. He was a native of Suffolk, VA born September 29, 1961.

He was educated in the Suffolk Public School system. He was employed by Gwaltney Packing Company for 19 years and retired from Newport News Shipyard where he worked as a welder for 14 years. He was a member and co-founder of the gospel group The Gospel Tones of Suffolk. His hobbies included going fishing on his boat and cooking on the grill. He also enjoyed singing, dancing, and spending time with his family and friends, and a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He was preceded in death by his father Earnest Edwards, Jr. and sister Celestine (Freda) Edwards. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Christine Richardson of Suffolk, two sisters Patricia Edwards and Angele Hillard (Monte) of Suffolk, one brother Steven Edwards of Suffolk, three goddaughters, Nicole Edwards of Newport News, Miyana Edwards and Grace Colbert of Suffolk, two aunts Marie Edwards of Suffolk and Paulette Jackson of North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, several devoted friends, and a fur baby named Mack.

A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Gates of Heaven C.O.G.I.C, Suffolk, Virginia. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
