Dwayne Tyrone Copeland, 61, of Suffolk, VA, peacefully transitioned on May 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 8, 1963, Dwayne lived a life of purpose, devotion, and quiet strength that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was a graduate of Forest Glen High School's Class of 1983. Dwayne dedicated 35 years of faithful service to Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc., retiring in 2023. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity, strong work ethic and kindness that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

To cherish his memory, he leaves behind a legacy of love. At the center of Dwayne's world was his family. He was a loving husband to his devoted wife, Pamela Copeland; a guiding light to his children, Tyrell Lowther and Jasmine Copeland; a caring grandfather to Ty'Reik, Nivea, Nia, and Nicole Lowther; and a proud great-grandfather to Ni'Lani Butler.

He was an adoring son to his mother, Mattie Copeland, and cherished son-in-law to David Williams Jr. and Annie Mary Williams. His siblings—Garland "Pete" Copeland (Sonja), Michael L. Copeland (Leisha), Christopher J. Copeland Sr. (Audrey), Rachel Copeland, and Valerie Johnson (Allen) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who were blessed to experience his generous spirit and unconditional love.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his Grandparents Abe Sr. & Cherry Copeland, Jack and Mary E. Manley; aunts, Mary Langston and Edith Copeland; uncle, Joe Copeland Sr. (Lena Mae); father, Abe Copeland Jr.; and sister Gloria E. Lewis (Arnold).

Those who knew Dwayne will remember his rambunctious passion, his unwavering loyalty, and the way he made every family gathering special with his presence. Whether it was coming together for family cookouts, offering sound advice, or simply listening with his full attention, Dwayne had a gift for making everyone feel valued.
