DOROTHY MAE COUNCIL-CHEEKS passed away from this life on the evening of Monday, August 24, 2026. She was born in Suffolk, VA, on February 27, 1944.

Dorothy will always be remembered for her love of family, her kind heart, and the love she shared with everyone she encountered. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family dearly. Her greatest joy was watching her family grow and being surrounded by the generations she loved.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Quintonio Cheeks (Tia) of Suffolk, VA; her daughter, Andrea Cheeks of Hampton, VA; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved daughters, Claudia Cheeks and Tracy Cheeks.

Her love and memories will remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew and loved her. YOU WILL TRULY BE MISSED!

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 from 2pm - 5pm. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, 11:00 am in the Melvin Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. The family has entrusted Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. with services rendered with dignity, compassion, and care.
