Dorothy Virginia Howell Boone

Dorothy Virginia Howell Boone, 89, of Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Nansemond Pointe Retirement Center. She was born in Nansemond County Virginia to the late Annie M. Boone Howell and Algie T. Howell, Sr. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Frank Boone, Sr. She retired in 2011 after 60 years of faithful and dedicated service being the proprietor of J.F. Boone Grocery Store and Rental Department. She was a member of Corinth Chapel U.C.C. where she served on the Usher Board and Secretary. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Vanessa M. Savage of Suffolk, Virginia; son, Jesse F. Boone Jr. (Jaqueline) of Suffolk, Virginia; six grandchildren, Jacobi Worrell (Frank), Dukesha Goode, Ciara Eley-Jones, Frank Eley, Jr., James Pittman, Jr. and Bakari Pittman; sixteen great-grandchildren, Makayla Jones, Kennedy Jones, Marcus Jones, Jr., Khole' Eley, Sairah Riddick, Dream Eley, Tru' Eley, Jamari Pittman, Jayla Pittman and Tykirra Kelly, Avion L. Boykins, Ty'kiya A. Skinner, Ty'Niah S. Worrell, Franklin R. Worrell IV, Joiya R. Whitney and Travis L. Whitney; two sisters, Ocie Mae Caldwell of Queens, New York and Dora Pruden of Gates, North Carolina; brother, Algie T. Howell, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Marion Barnes, Thelma Boone, Christine Boone, Francine Boone and Marilyn West; brothers-in-law, Walter Boone and Alton Boone; special cousins, Betty Britt, Peggy Reid and Brenda Howard; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special thanks to her wonderful caregiver Ms. Beverly White and Ms. Marilyn West and a very special thanks Nansemond Pointe and Staff. A celebration of life will be held noon, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Mt. Ararat Christian Church, 1860 Airport Road, Suffolk, Virginia. Rev. Tony D. Boone will deliver the message of comfort.
