In Loving Memory of
Doris Elaine Holland
October 17, 1947 - October 9, 2026
A Life of Love, Kindness, and Cherished Memories
On Friday, October 9, 2026, Doris Elaine Holland peacefully entered eternal rest, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.
Doris was born on October 17, 1947, in Suffolk, Virginia, to the late Carrie Stephenson and Mack Stephenson.
Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and daughter whose presence brought warmth and joy to those around her. She was known for her quiet and reserved nature, kind heart, and joyful spirit. Although soft-spoken, Doris had a way of making her feelings known, especially when it came to keeping things in order. She appreciated peace, cleanliness, and the simple pleasures of life.
In her spare time, Doris enjoyed watching her favorite television shows, In the Heat of the Night and Perry Mason. She also found happiness in putting puzzles together, coloring, and listening to gospel music. These simple activities brought her comfort and joy.
Throughout her life, Doris held several positions in the workforce, including providing housekeeping services for various families, working at Naval Station Norfolk, and working for Suffolk Public Schools. However, helping others was more than a job to Doris; it was part of who she was. She was a selfless woman who gave freely of her time, energy, and love, always willing to lend a helping hand whenever someone was in need.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Holland Sr., and her loving parents, Carrie Stephenson and Mack Stephenson, and her grandson Sam Trashawn Godwin.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving children, Diane Holland, George Holland Jr., and Bee Holland; two sisters, Linda Stephenson and Margaret; three brothers, Jimmy Stephenson, Mack Stephenson, and Ben Stephenson; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Although Doris has departed from this earthly life, her love, kindness, and beautiful memories will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy will continue through the generations of family she leaves behind.
Forever in our hearts, always in our memories, and never forgotten.
