Donnovan Lanier "Don" Rhodes, 35, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away on May 12, 2026, after battling kidney and heart disease. Born on February 16, 1991, in Chesapeake, Virginia, Donnovan brought light and laughter to those who knew him throughout his life.
Donnovan was the beloved son of Linwood Blount Jr. and DeJeannetta Rhodes Blount. He was a devoted father to his cherished daughter, Madison Mitchell. He is also survived by his siblings: Zakilya Valentine, Lorenzo Barnes, Demetrius Barnes, Linwood Blout III, Franklin Wimberly, Brianna Blount, DeAnna Blount, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Donnovan's memory will also be treasured by his maternal grandparents Albert and Norm Vassel and paternal grandparents Linwood and Catherine Blount Sr; and Mary Harrell Blount. He was predeceased by his brother Dwayne Jennings.
A man of many talents and passions, Donnovan found joy in fishing, working on cars, and cooking. His love for these activites was matched only by his deep affection for his family. Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Donnovan had a unique ability to bring smiles to those around him. Whether he was sharing a meal he had lovingly prepared or spending time with loved ones by the water's edge with a fishing rod in hand, Donnovan's presence was always a source of warmth and happiness.
Donnovan's legacy is one of love, laughter, and resilience. His family and friends will forever remember the joy he brought into their lives and the countless memories they shared with him.
May Donnovan's memory bring comfort to all who knew him as they celebrate the life of a remarkable man who left an inedible mark on their hearts.
A viewing will be held on 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026 and a celebration of life service will follow at 11a.m in the Melvin Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home Inc., located at 900 E. Washington Street Suffolk, Virginia, 23434. The family has entrusted Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. with professional services rendered with dignity, compassion, and care.
