DeShawn "Jay Dot" Maurice Bazemore, Jr.

At sunset, May 15, 2022, God called his son, DeShawn “Jay Dot” Maurice Bazemore Jr., to His heavenly home to be with Him. He was born to Ms. Jeanette Johnson of Newport News, Virginia and Mr. DeShawn Maurice Bazemore Sr. (Patricia) of Portsmouth, Virginia on January 5, 2000. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ms. Sharon Denise Bazemore. DeShawn Jr. “Jay Dot” attended Suffolk Public Schools. His favorite subject was math. He enjoyed playing basketball, hanging out with family and friends, and spending time with his two daughters. “Jay Dot” was very quiet and soft spoken, but he loved to smile and his laughter was contagious. “Jay Dot,” as he was affectionally called, was a loving father, uncle, and son. Left to cherish his life and memories, is his mother Ms. Jeanette Johnson of Newport News, Virginia and his father, DeShawn Maurice Bazemore Sr. (Patricia) of Portsmouth, Virginia, his maternal grandmother, Ms. Maurice Johnson of Newport News, Virginia, his two daughters, Ky’Loni and Neveah, and Kiera Bond, their mother of Suffolk, Virginia. “Jay Dot” is survived by four sisters: Quatashia Johnson, Kayla Hale, RaeZhia and RaeKhia Artis. He will also be missed by five brothers: Travis Smallwood, Tevin Wiggins, Treavon Johnson, Dunyasha Porter Jr. and Daquan Johnson. Also, left to cherish his memories are four aunts: Annissa Strothers of Suffolk, Virginia , Litisha Hagedorn (Alex) of Westerville, Ohio, Beatrice Boone of Newport News, Virginia, and Gwendolyn Johnson (Mark) of Portsmouth, Virginia and four uncles: Anthony Bazemore (Vanessa) of Suffolk, Virginia, Corey Bazemore (RoShawnda) of New York, New York, Lewis Bazemore (Victoria) of Suffolk, Virginia and Tony Johnson of Newport News, Virginia. Finally, DeShawn Jr. “Jay Dot” leaves to cherish his memory a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of life will be held noon, Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Gates of Heaven C.O.G.I.C 112 Beech Street, Suffolk, Virginia 23434.
