Derek Keith Cross

Derek Keith Cross,39, affectionally known as “Debo”, suddenly transitioned on September 8, 2024, in Hampton Virginia. He was preceded by his mother Cindy Brown Cross, paternal grandparents Robert T.Cross Sr. and Alphine A. Cross, maternal grandparent Sarah B. Hall, Aunt Katherine C. Hodges, cousin, Katrina Hodges, and niece Destinee Blow. 

Derek was a graduate of Lakeland High School and attended Paul D. Camp Community College. He was employed with Kuerig Dr. Pepper. He had a quiet loving humble soul. He made friends with whomever he encountered. He enjoyed traveling, playing video games, and watching sports. He was a Kansas City Chiefs “Super Fan” as well as a Los Angeles Lakers fan. Derek also loved wearing hats. He had quite a collection. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family. Everybody that knew him spoke highly about his character. It was nothing to here “Debo is a good guy” or “Debo’s my Dude.” He will truly be missed by his family, friends, and coworkers he met over his lifetime.

 He leaves to cherish his memory his father, James A. Cross, sisters Tennile S. Cross, Clarissa M. Brown, and Nicole D. Brown. Niece, Tiyeka L. Brown, Nephews, Devonte W. Brown, and Brenden Boone. Great Nephew, Christian Wiggins. Aunts, Vanessa C. Hicks (Willie), Marion Copeland, Cherel Brown, and Betty Hall. Uncles, Jeffrey E. Cross, William K. Cross, Robert T. Cross Jr., Joseph T. Cross, his very special love Tiffany Marshall, and a host of cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held on Thursday 2p-6p September 19, 2024.  A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at noon, in the Melvin Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
