Deidre Faulk Davis

July 31, 1970 — April 13, 2025

Midlothian

Mrs. Deidre Faulk Davis, age 54, born on July 31, 1970, in Suffolk, Virginia, gained her wings on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Johnston-Willis Hospital.

A proud graduate of Forest Glen High School, Class of 1989, and Virginia Union University, Class of 1994, Deidre devoted her life to education, the arts, and the empowerment of young people. A former member of the Richmond Chapter of the Continentals, she made a lasting impact in her community through her career with the City of Richmond’s Department of Recreation and Parks. For over two decades, she served as a Dance Instructor and later as a Recreation Program Supervisor, overseeing the city’s before- and after-school programs.

Deidre’s heart beat to the rhythm of dance. She was a major contributor to the City Dance Troupe, Richmond’s own competitive dance team, and also founded the Unique Dance Academy. Under her leadership, her students earned numerous first, second, and third place trophies at competitions, but it was the confidence, discipline, and self-expression she instilled in them that truly mattered most.

Beyond her career, Deidre was an avid traveler and a true beach lover, always finding joy in the sun, sand, and waves. She was the life of the party, dancing with infectious energy and grace wherever she went. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and friends, and took deep pride in shaping young lives to become responsible, compassionate, and productive citizens.

She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Bryan Earl Davis; her son, Breon Kobe Davis; and her daughter, Bria Renee Davis. She also leaves behind her mother, Bettie Jean Faulk; her father, James Harold Faulk (Carrie Wiggins Faulk); her brother, Dimitrius Harold Faulk (Kim Faulk); sister-in-law, Raven Gray (Roland Smith); and mother-in-law, Caroline R. Gray. Deidre’s legacy lives on in her nephews—Justin Faulk, Keshawn Gray, Dimitrius Faulk Jr., Joshua Gray, and Jemell Smith—as well as her great-nephew, Justin Faulk Jr. She is also remembered fondly by a host of extended family and dear friends.

A viewing will be held from 12:00–5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, followed by a visitation with the family from 5:00–7:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating her life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Suffolk. A repast will follow immediately at the Faulk Family Affair, also in Suffolk, VA.
