Deacon Mack L. Lassiter Sr. was born March 19, 1918, just eight months prior to the end of World War I to the late Shelton and Elsie Lassiter Sr., in Sunbury North Carolina. He entered to eternal rest and peace on October 18, 2019, in the comforts of his home This anointed man of God was predeceased by the love of his life, Francis Lucille Lassiter, his wife for 66 years. Often, he would say, “When I first met your mother, it was love at first sight”. Others who were predeceased include his siblings; (Brothers)- James Lassiter, Johnnie B. Lassiter, Herbert Lassiter, Shelton Lassiter, Sherman Lassiter, William “Pat” Thomas Lassiter. (Sisters)- Margaret Staggs, Iola Walker, Inez King, and Mable Edwards. Surviving to cherish his memory; Eight (8) beautiful daughters; Delois Coles (Samuel) of Suffolk, Elsie Wilson of Suffolk, Evelyn Robinson (Henderson) of Smithfield, Gloria Jean Woodley of Suffolk, Geraldine Waters of Suffolk, Melissa Lassiter of Suffolk, Michelle Creekmore-Phillips (Robert) of Hampton, and Tracy Lassiter of Suffolk. Two (2) handsome sons; Mack Lassiter Jr. (Linda) of Portsmouth, and Kevin Lassiter of Staunton, VA. Twenty-Seven (27) precious grandchildren, Fifty-Three (53) great-grandchildren, and Thirteen (13) great- great- grandchildren. Deacon Mack also has two (2) brothers who will continue to cherish his memory; Horace Lassiter (Liza) of Detroit MI, and Russell Lassiter Sr of Suffolk, and two (2) sister in-laws Mildred Lassiter and Bertha Mae Powell. Spiritual children; Daryl Long and Dwayne Whitley, devoted nieces; Angela Wilson and Chiquita Powell, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and Deacon Mack’s adopted neighbors of the Elephant’s Fork Community. Deacon Mack’s early spiritual introduction began at Healing Chapel Baptist Church where he was filled with the Power of the Holy Spirit and was then led to continue his spiritual journey at Mt. Calvary Holiness Church of God in Smithfield, VA (Rev James E. Robinson) and later on, to Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Surry County (Rev. George M. Wooden). Deacon Mack made his relationship with the Lord priority and allowed the light of the Lord to shine through him wherever he went. Many who encountered him at church, the workplace, and in the community were impacted by the presence of the Lord’s anointing upon him. Deacon Mack was known to PRAISE GOD at any time, any place, and with whoever else wanted to join in. If no one else would, he would praise God all by himself. Because of how God saved and delivered Deacon Mack, he was not ashamed of who God was in his life. One Hundred and One years old (101)!! Let the church say AMEN!! A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Healing Chapel Baptist Church, 2375 Godwin Blvd, Suffolk, Virginia, 23434. He will be laid to rest in Christian Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
