David Lee Johnson, 61, of Blythewood Lane, Suffolk, transitioned Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at his residence. He was the son of the late Earlene R. Johnson and Tinsley Johnson, Sr. He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School class of 1978. He matriculated to Paul D. Camp Community College where he earned a degree in Agriculture. He worked for International Paper Mill and was self employed. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Deatrice A. Johnson of Suffolk; sister, Bettie J. Swain of Suffolk ; three brothers, Calvin Johnson (Felecia) of Suffolk, Tinsley Johnson, Jr. of Norfolk, VA, and (devoted brother) Samuel L. Dailey of Suffolk; nephew, Kalvin A. Johnson; niece, Nekita Swain, great nephew, Sean Preston Foster; Godchildren, Angel Mullin (Bill), Isaiah and Josiah Mullins; mother-in-law, Shirley A. Kee; sisters-in-law, Willetha Winborne (James) of Florida, Tresha Rountree (Corey) of Chesapeake; brothers-in-law, Jasper R. Kee, Jr. of Kentucky, William Barnes (Vondalear),and Kenneth Barnes; devoted friends, Melvin and Ann Stallings, Lorenzo Smith, Juanita Skinner, Alvester Vaughan and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of life will be held noon, Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Sixth Street Baptist Church, Suffolk, Virginia. Rev. Andrew Branch will deliver the message of comfort.
