Darlene was born to Mr. & Mrs. Johnnie (Dilia) Fields. She was raised in Suffolk where she attended East Suffolk School. Darlene then went to on John F. Kennedy High School where she joined the band becoming a Majorette. She was very popular although, she was quiet person. Darlene graduated class of 1973. Upon graduating she enrolled in Airline School in Kansas City, MS, with hopes of becoming a Flight Attendant. After graduating she was hired by the FBI in Washington DC. A few years later she relocated back to Suffolk where married Walter Perry. From this union, two sons were born. Years later worked for the Virginian Pilot where she retired in 2019. Darlene leaves behind two sons of Maryland; Walter Perry and Lamont Perry; daughter -in-law, Lisa Perry; grandchildren, Antonio Perry of Italy, Abrea Young (Marcel) of Suffolk, Walter Perry, Jr, Calia Perry, and Derrick Perry, all from Maryland; two great-grands, Miles and Marlo Young, both of Suffolk; siblings, Linda (James) Beamon, Gregory Robinson, Johnnie (Pamela) Robinson, all of Suffolk and Ardilia Parker of Florida; two favorite aunts, Delores Watson of Maryland and Jackie Williams of Florida; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Darlene will be dearly missed. We all loved her Fish, Potato Salad, Greens, and Beef. Lord knows Darlene loved cooking when family members would come home to visit. Darlene aka (short) you are truly now resting in Heaven, enjoy your eternal life. We will always love you. A celebration of life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Balm Church East Campus. Ms. Perry will be entombed at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
