Cynthia Hill Hunter, 73, of Suffolk, VA transitioned Friday, December 29, 2023. 
She was the daughter of the late Elnora Fitzgerald & Reverend Samuel Hill.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Raiford Hugo Hunter, Jr.
Cynthia was a graduate of Prince George High School, class of 1968 and the first African American Homecoming Queen. 
She continued her education to Virginia State University and received her Bachelor's in Business Administration, graduating in 1972. 
Cynthia was also the 1972 Virginia State Homecoming Queen.
Cynthia was a member of ABWA (American Business Women’s Association) where she was commended on her work of guiding high school students & their parents through the financial aid process to enter college across the Hampton Roads area.
 
Cynthia went to serve as Director of Financial Aid for Norfolk State University and then on to Tidewater Community College until she retired in 2015. 
Cynthia & Hugo were married on February 17, 1973 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and remained active members until their later years.  
Quite notably, Cynthia joined the Women's Chorus alongside her friends Bessie & Helen Lawerence both of Chesapeake, VA. 
 
Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory her son, Lo Hunter (Jar'Kila),  grand-daughter, Zoey, grand-sons, Ahdae & Milo) of NC; daughter, Laurice Hunter of Atlanta, GA; grand-daughter Lauren Hunter of Suffolk, VA; brother, Robert W. Hill (Eleanor) of Chesterfield, VA; aunt, Pauline Fitzgerald Neal of Disputanta, VA; favorite cousin, Yvette Neal-Mullen of Disputanta, VA; two sisters-in-law, Ann L. Hunter Malone (Richard) of Chesapeake, VA and Dr. H. Sharmaine Hunter-Boykin (Dwight) of Suffolk, VA; three brothers-in-law, Rev. Wilbert L. Lawrence of Franklin, VA, Johnnie L. Lawrence (Jessie) of Suffolk, VA, and Coolidge D. Hunter (Brenda) of Suffolk, VA; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.  
 
A Special thanks is extended to Dondra Saunders and Coolidge Hunter for their unwavering caregiving services. 
 
We extend a special recognition and gratitude to Carmen Bowles for her extraordinary dedication to Cynthia during her final season.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on January 6, 2024 at 1:30 pm at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with the Celebration of Life starting at 2:30 pm. Cynthia will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. 
Rev. Dr. William L. Lang will deliver the message of comfort. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
