Connie Pope 60, of Third Avenue, Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Saturday, January 4, 2020 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Henrietta Hatton and Clarence Hatton, Sr. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James A. Pope; sister, Felicia Hatton, brother, Glenn Foster, and son-in-law, Tony D. Powell, Sr. Connie was a graduate of John Yeates High School where she was a track and field star in 1977. She attended Norfolk State University and retired from Smithfiled Packing Company. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Tawana S. Foster-Holland (Diago) and Bernice D. Foster-Holland (Terry Sr.) both of Suffolk; four sisters, Tammie L. Hatton (Redell) of Newport News, Vina Jones (Darell) of Suffolk, Doris Hatton of Hampton, and Javonda Golden (William) of Suffolk; brother, Clarence R. Hatton (Sandra) of Carrollton; 12 grandchildren, Shaquanda L. Foster, RaeMaad Wright, Tony D. Powell, Jr., Ke'Monta D. Powell, Ashani Wright, Nakaiha Foster, Terry D. Holland IV , Quamari Byron, Terry D. Holland, V, Terry D. Holland VI, Terry D. HollandVII, Shaniya Mann, and baby Holland; one great grandchild, Raevon Mann. A special thank you to the best R.N. Carrie Morgan-Cobbs at Bon Secour Home Health Care and devoted special friend Frederick Boyce of Suffolk. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery Crittenden Road, Suffolk.
