Charlie Artis, Jr.

Charlie Artis, Jr., 79, of York Street, Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He is the son of the late Flossie Skeeter Artis and Charlie Artis Sr. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Monet Eley; brother, Watden Artis, He retired from Trailway Garage. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Vernice Artis; three daughters, Angela Williams, Tracey Artis and Tammy Still all of Virginia Beach; four sons, Charles T. Artis, Sr. of VA. Beach, Charles L. Artis and Michael Eley both of Suffolk, VA and Mark R. Eley of Portsmouth, VA; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Ethel Boone (Otis), Shirley Madison (Pernell), Lorraine Hardison (William) and Darlene Peterson (Donald) all of Portsmouth, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Agnes Copeland (Elmore), Caffee Carr, Minnie Carr and Betty Artis; brothers-in-law, Robert Eley (Mary), Raymond Eley (Lee Ester) and Bobby Eley (Debra); a host of other relatives and friends A celebration of life will be held noon, Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in the Melvin J.
