Charles Lee Council

Charles Lee Council entered eternal rest and peace on May 17, 2019.  He was a native of Suffolk Virginia and son of the late James and Sarah Council.  He was married to the love of his life the late Sylvia Jean Skeeter Council.  He was preceded in death by his son Maurice Pierre Council and his four brothers James Brown Sr., Clifton Brown, James Council Jr. and William Council. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Suffolk, VA. He retired from LandAmerica Financial Group in 2009 as a Telecommunications Specialist.  He loved the Lord and was a faithful driver for the late Bishop Columbus Arrington. He attended House of Prayer #5 Church of Deliverance in Newport News, VA before his health declined. Charles was full of laughter, loved to travel and loved people. He leaves to cherish fond memories: one son Jerron Council (Regina) of Chesterfield, VA; two brothers Phillip Council (Elizabeth) and Ronald Council (Melissa) of Suffolk, VA; three sisters Mrs. Margaret Oropeza of Manhattan, NY; Mrs. Ella Lynch of Suffolk, VA and Mrs. Marion Deloris Syres (Timothy) of Suffolk, VA; sister-in-laws Linda Harris (Russell) and Gloria Dotson (Wayne) of Richmond, VA; Velma Bryant (Anthony) of Suffolk, VA; a goddaughter Jermile’ Batten; a devoted special friend Anita Lockley and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2019 at New First Baptist Church, 1105 Hosier Road, Suffolk VA 23434. He will be entombed in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
