Catherine Williams was born on August 26, 1934 in Courtland, VA to Gussie M. Smith and Willie A. Williams, Sr. Catherine graduated from Armstrong High School in Richmond where she played basketball and was in the Marching Band. After graduation she moved to Washington, D.C. where she attended Business School. Catherine was very passionate and dedicated to everything she did. She played Bridge with the American Bridge Association traveling all over the United States, she loved traveling. She bowled in several leagues and let us not forget that she absolutely loved, loved, loved fishing and shared her catch with family and friends. Catherine was a resident of Mt. Vernon, NY where she was a member at the White Rock Baptist Church. She worked at the Hubert Bookbindery in NYC and later retired from the U.S.P.S in Mt. Vernon as a supervisor after 20 plus years of service. Catherine relocated to the Hampton Roads Area in 1996 and chose to live in Suffolk. She joined Tabernacle Baptist Outreach Center under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Scates, Sr. (deceased) and now Rev. Trevon Boone. She has been a faithful servant serving as a choir member, church clerk and Trustee. She loved fundraising, especially selling herring breakfast. Catherine leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter, Karen (Randolph) Perry of Virginia Beach; one sister, Rosa W. Taylor of Virginia Beach; nieces, Rosemary (James) Clinton of Virginia Beach, Stephanie Williams of N.J; Juanita Prathier of New Jersey; nephew, Gregory Brown of Virginia Beach and a host of great and great grands; nieces and nephews and a devoted goddaughter, Mary Umstead of Suffolk, Virginia. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Tabernacle Baptist Outreach Center. She will be laid to rest in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Rev.
